Therapeutic Mentoring
One-on-one support that meets young people where they are — and helps them grow into who they’re becoming.

Life is complex — especially when you’re managing a behavioral health condition or navigating recovery. Therapeutic Mentoring pairs youth with trained mental health professionals who provide consistent, structured support in the spaces where young people actually live their lives — their communities, their homes, and their daily routines.
This isn’t tutoring or general mentorship. It’s a clinically informed, relationship-based service designed to build the skills young people need to navigate challenges, regulate emotions, and thrive.
The adults in a young person’s life often see the signs before they know what to call them. If your child is struggling — emotionally, behaviorally, or socially — therapeutic mentoring may be the structured support they need right now.
What therapeutic mentoring addresses
Mentors work with youth on the skills and challenges that matter most for healthy development and daily functioning:
Signs your child may benefit
Therapeutic mentoring is often the right fit when a young person is experiencing one or more of the following:
What to expect
Here’s how the process typically unfolds from first contact to ongoing service:
- 1
Referral & Intake: A referral is submitted by a parent, guardian, school, court, or service provider. Our team conducts an intake to understand the youth’s history, needs, and goals.
- 2Mentor Matching: We carefully match each youth with a mentor whose background and experience align with their specific needs and circumstances.
- 3
Goal Development: Together with the youth and their family, the mentor co- creates an individualized plan with clear, meaningful goals and measurable milestones.
- 4
Weekly Sessions: Sessions happen at minimum once per week for at least 90 minutes — in the community, at home, or at our offices. The environment is determined by what best serves the youth.
- 5
Ongoing Coordination: Mentors work in coordination with the youth’s broader care team — therapists, case managers, teachers, and family — to ensure consistent, aligned support.
How this differs from therapy
Therapeutic mentoring is not therapy, and it’s not a replacement for it. The two services work best together. While a therapist provides clinical treatment in an office setting, a therapeutic mentor provides structured, skill-building support in the real world — the same environments where your child is expected to function every day.
Many families find that therapeutic mentoring bridges the gap between a weekly therapy session and daily life, reinforcing skills and providing consistent presence when it’s needed most.
Who we serve
Therapeutic Mentoring is available for youth and young adults, ages 5–25, who are navigating behavioral health challenges and need structured, consistent support beyond a weekly office visit. Services are delivered primarily in community settings — where life actually happens.
